There are are number of products available which will convert files to PDF format.
For users on Windows 2000/XP wishing to convert StrataBugs charts to PDF format documents for archiving or distribution to clients we can recommend a product called PDF995. This is available as shareware or for purchase (currently US$10) from:
To get the correct size and orientation go to the Print dialog | Layout tab and press the Advanced… button. Scroll down the list in the Paper Size combo box and select Postscipt custom page size.
If the chart width is less than the height, use portrait setting on the Layout tab and set the width and height in the Custom Page Size Definition dialog exactly as reported in StrataBugs | Charts (be careful to select the Millimeter option).
If the chart width is greater than the height, use landscape setting on the Layout tab and set the width in the in the Custom Page Size Definition dialog as the chart HEIGHT, and the height as the WIDTH.
For users running Windows 98/ME or 2000/XP there is another product PDFfactory which produces good results. This is free to evaluate (current licence price is US$50) and can be downloaded from:
To save and plot StrataBugs charts successfully using this program:
1 - Make sure you set the Page margins in StrataBugs | Charts | File to “0”.
2 - You need to go to Custom page size and type in the width and height into the dialog PLUS at least 12mm in each dimension
3 - If the width is greater than the height, select Landscape.
4 - Don't worry about the preview - it sometimes spills onto more than one page or clips the margin, but if you save as a PDF file and then open it, it should look OK. A little experimenting will result in a correct size.
The resulting file can then be printed at the correct size using Acrobat Reader. You can download a free copy from the Adobe website:
