Numeric Codes dialog

Using this dialog it is possible to assign numeric codes to taxa in your database; furthermore, you can set up more than one dictionary so that the same taxon has different codes in different dictionaries. This feature was introduced to ensure compatibility between different Shell (SIPM) coding schemes but could be used to support any in-house schemes.

You can use numerical codes to create printed logging sheets, which in turn can be used to quickly enter occurrence data.

Note: This should not be confused with the Alpanumeric codes which can be assigned to taxa. These have a one to one relationship with taxon names and can be used to provide useful abbreviations for taxon names.

Double-click in the Numeric code column to edit a code. You must press enter to confirm changes.

The table shows all dictionaries, regardless of whether there is a code for the selected taxon in each dictionary. If there is no code it will show as a blank (not zero). You can remove a code or delete a dictionary. If you delete a dictionary, this will apply for all the taxa in the database. You will be asked to confirm the deletion.
