Event Reader Dialog
You can read a list of composite standard events consisting of the event names and their ages from an Excel spreadsheet file. This file can be in either .xls or .xlsx format. The process consists of the following steps:
- Open Schemes and Interpretations.
- Select Stratigraphic Schemes, and select Composite Standards as the scheme type.
- Press the "Read..." button.
- Select the .xls or .xlsx file. The file must consist of two columns, with one title row (the actual titles are not important). The first column must contain the name of the event, and the second the age (or CSU value) of the event.
- On the Dialog, select the prefix to be used for the top (LAD) and base (FAD) events. The process needs to convert and remove these prefixes from the event names. The items in the drop down lists are derived from scanning the event list in the file, and may contain some unexpected entries. The prefixes for the top and base events must be different. In this example the youngest events are prefixed with "LO" and the oldest events "FO":
- Proceed to the Match Events dialog to match the events against the event dictionary.
- Proceed to the Match Composite Standard dialog to add a new Composite Standard of the ages of the events from the file, or match the event age list against an existing composite standard in your database.
