Event: Add to / Edit in Well dialog

This dialog enables you to add or edit individual events in a well. You can reach this dialog using the Event button on the Interpretations tab, or directly by double clicking the event in the composite standard plot, in a similar way to stratigraphic intervals on the stratigraphic schemes tab.

Hint: a well event consists of an event from the event dictionary which is linked to a sample from the well. It also includes information on whether it is a top or a base event. Comments, analyst, discipline, qualifier, source and company are further optional pieces of information which can be included.

Enter the Sample depth by pressing the ellipsis button (...) to the right of the Sample depth field to open the Sample: Select dialog and select sample form the list. If the sample depth you require is not listed you may add it.

Enter the Event name by pressing the ellipsis (...) button to the right of the Event name field to open the Event: Select dialog and select an event from the list. The first time the list is opened it may take some time to load. If the event name you require is not listed you may add it.

Select the Event type. For a paired event type, you must specify whether the sample event represents the Top event or the Base event of the event range in the well.

Note: For deviated wells it may be possible for the top or base of an event to appear more than once, but for straight holes this is less likely.

Note: If the event selected from the dictionary is a single type event, then you cannot make it a top or base.

Select the appropriate Discipline from the drop down list. You do not have to specify a discipline - just select the blank row at the top of the drop-down list if you would rather leave this field blank.

The analyst is optional; type in an abbreviation or by press the ellipsis (...) button and select an analyst from the list. Any typed analyst ID will be validated when you press OK.

Optionally, add a Comment about the Event. The comment is currently purely for reference and does not appear on charts. Comments are limited to 240 characters.

You may add a Qualifier such as above, below etc - limited to 16 characters.

You may complete the Source (limit: 5 characters) and Company (limit 20 characters) fields if you wish to supply additional information about this event.
